Michael is a retired pastor, speaker and writer. You might know him as a pastor, neighbor, friend or a trusted resource when it comes to religion and culture.
Michael attended Baylor University on a football scholarship, where he lettered as a defensive back. During the off-season he worked in a school for mentally challenged children next to the campus, teaching physical education. After graduation he enlisted in the Marine Corps. When an eye disease, which resulted in corneal transplants in both eyes, prevented him from finishing his tour of duty, he enrolled in Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary. He earned his Master of Divinity and Ph.D. in Old Testament studies.
For almost 40 years Michael pastored churches in Oklahoma, Texas and Florida. He and his wife, DeDe, make their home in Jacksonville, Florida. They have two grown sons. Michael is available for speaking engagements and consultations.
